Bridgwater Carnival

Bridgwater Carnival is one of the world's largest illuminated carnivals, drawing crowds of over 150,000 people from across the UK and beyond each November. The procession — which stretches for over two miles — features spectacular themed floats adorned with thousands of individual light bulbs, creating a breathtaking river of light through the town centre.

The carnival has its roots in the celebrations following the failure of the Gunpowder Plot in 1605 and has been held continuously ever since, making it one of the oldest and most spectacular events in the British calendar.

This is a truly unforgettable evening out — the atmosphere is electric, the floats are breathtaking, and the scale of the event has to be seen to be believed. We highly recommend wrapping up warm and arriving early to find a great vantage point along the route.
